PETALING JAYA (Sept 25, 2013): MK Land Holdings Bhd is targeting another 2% contribution to revenue from its hotels and resort division, with the launch of its latest product Ombak Villa at the Langkawi Lagoon Resort, said its hotels and resorts group general manager Azahar Ahmad.
The division currently contributes about 5% to the group's revenue.
“We are targeting another 2% contribution within two years of operation. The first phase of the villa started its operation in May this year during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA). We received good response after starting operations,” Azahar told a media briefing on Ombak Villa here yesterday.
He said the group is looking to re-establish its hospitality division.
Ombak Villa, which will be officiated on Sept 30, cost about RM48 million to construct.
Azahar said the villa, which is its fourth hospitality venture in Langkawi, consists of 79 rooms including one exclusive room and two honeymoon suites. It was developed in two phases.
Ombak Villa sits on a 10-acre site, on the larger 68-acre area owned by MK Land at the Langkawi Lagoon Resort.
About one third of the land owned by MK Land has been used for the development of hotels.
Azahar said while they are plans to develop the rest of the land, the group wants to focus on the present products first.
"To build (more) hotels, it would be very costly. We don’t have any plans yet. Maybe in the future,” he added.
